SEZ America Adds Research, Development and Engineering Team to Support U.S. Customers
PHOENIX, Arizona--May 08, 2001--SEZ America announced that it has hired Larry Wilson as vice president of research, development and engineering (RD&E) to oversee its new U.S. RD&E team. SEZ America is the U.S. operation of the SEZ Group (SWX: SEZN). Wilson will manage all technology projects that require research, development and engineering support. The company created the department in response to the growing need of its U.S. customer base for strong, local development and engineering projects.
"Larry was brought into SEZ because of his considerable previous industry experience," explained Susan Jones, executive vice president and COO of SEZ America. "He has extensive experience on projects similar to those being looked at by the global SEZ Group. Such projects are critical to further advancing SEZ in the U.S. market and supporting our local customer base."
The new team will work closely with SEZ's existing RD&E team based in Austria. Implementing a RD&E department in the U.S. will allow SEZ America to develop new projects and products in close collaboration with its U.S. based customers. As a part of the company's commitment to meeting the needs of its customers SEZ America is currently expanding its Phoenix laboratory, which will be finished during the fourth quarter of this year.
During the first quarter of 2001, SEZ America has focused on building its RD&E team, which included the appointment of Larry Wilson. SEZ America has also hired two process engineers, a software engineer, a mechanical design engineer and two technical support engineers. Most of the current team is presently undergoing an accelerated training program in Austria. The company plans to further expand its RD&E team in the coming months.
Wilson comes to SEZ with considerable industry experience. He most recently served as the director of European sales and a global account manager for SpeedFam-Ipec. Before joining SpeedFam-Ipec, Wilson held positions at IPEC Planar, SpeedFam International's electronic equipment group and Motorola. Wilson holds a B.S. in materials engineering science and a one year advanced business administration degree from Arizona State University.
