SEZ Receives VLSI Research 10 BEST Award in Customer Satisfaction Survey
VILLACH, Austria, June 21, 2002 - At a press conference this week in San Jose, Calif., semiconductor analyst firm VLSI Research Inc., announced that the SEZ Group is among this year's 10 BEST equipment manufacturers. SEZ ranked number four among Small Suppliers Of Wafer Processing Equipment in VLSI's annual Customer Satisfaction Survey on Chip Making Equipment.
"As the company continues to grow, SEZ puts more and more emphasis on customer service and satisfaction levels," commented Kurt Lackenbucker, chief marketing officer of the SEZ Group. "Attention and focus on customer requirements has been driving the company since its inception. The opening of our 300 mm lab in Phoenix last month is another example of our dedication to advancing this industry and our customers' developments. VLSI Research surveys chip equipment users in the semiconductor industry each year and determines the 10 BEST equipment companies based on feedback from IC manufacturers and foundries. This year, over 55,000 questionnaires were sent out to engineers, managers and decision makers worldwide. With European equipment manufacturers gaining market share, the level of customer satisfaction has also increased. In 2002, five of the 10 BEST winners in the category of Small Suppliers of Wafer Processing Equipment were European-based companies.

The Customer Satisfaction Report is essentially a report card on equipment suppliers. It provides an independent evaluation for chip making equipment suppliers. In compiling data for these awards, VLSI Research sent out 55,713 questionnaires in six languages -- English, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, German, and French -- to semiconductor companies in all areas of the world. Users of semiconductor capital equipment were asked to rate their suppliers in thirteen categories that exemplify a supplier's relationship with its customers. More than 5,400 individual company ratings were returned and used in compiling these results.
