SEZ Sells First 300-mm Tool into China Market
Leading Chinese Foundry Purchases Single-wafer Da Vinci? Tool
SEMICON China, Shanghai, China, March 15, 2005?The SEZ Group (SWX: SEZN), the market leader and premier innovator in single-wafer wet-processing technology for the semiconductor industry, today announced it has sold its first 300-mm tool?an SEZ Da Vinci? (DV) system?into China. A leading Chinese foundry purchased and installed the tool at its fab last month.
The proliferation of consumer devices in China makes it the world's fastest-growing semiconductor market, and its rapid growth is expected to continue outpacing all other regions over the next several years, according to numerous industry sources. The selection of SEZ's 300-mm DV-Series tool by a world-leading Chinese foundry creates a significant opportunity for SEZ to build on its share of the single-wafer market in China as the region ramps to 300-mm manufacturing.

Propelled by the current industry trends toward increased cost reduction, better yields and higher productivity, market adoption of the Da Vinci platform has grown sharply since its launch in July 2003. SEZ already has multiple Da Vinci tools installed worldwide, and anticipates that this product family will represent more than 50 percent of the company's total sales in 2005.
